The team of the Ungheni Sports School for Children and Juniors returned from the Chișinău municipal open championship in traditional karate-do, dedicated to the capital’s patron day, with 8 first places, 11 second places and 7 third places, Ungheni City Hall reports. That is 26 podium finishes for a team of 42 athletes, trained by coach Iurii Cebaniuc.
A total of 169 athletes competed in the championship, according to the city hall. The Ungheni team thus made up almost a quarter of the participants.
20 athletes on the podium
The list published by the city hall names every athlete who placed. Six of them reached the podium twice, so the 26 podium finishes belong to 20 different athletes, almost half of the team of 42. Because the athletes are children and juniors, we do not publish their names.
The group photo published by the city hall shows the team under the banner of the JKA Moldova National Karate-Do Federation. The text of the post does not specify the date of the competition, the age categories or the events in which the medals were won.
