Three players sent off in the first legs of the Ungheni district «MAGIRUS» football Cup will miss the second legs that decide the semi-finalists. The Competitions Committee of the Ungheni Territorial Football Association (ATF) suspended them through record no. 10 of 9 July and fined their clubs 200 lei each. For two of them the sanction is easy to absorb; for the third, it comes at the worst possible moment.
Who, and for what
All three sendings-off came the same way — a red card after two yellows — in the matches of 5 July:
- Dumitru Andrițchi (FC Regina Maria), in the match against FC Unirea Cetireni;
- Gheorghe Uzdriș (FC Speranța Semeni), in the match against FC Mănoilești;
- Vasile Croitoru (FC Haiduc Bumbăta), in the match against FC Barsa.
For each of them the decision is the same: a suspension for the team’s next match in the competition — that is, the quarter-final second leg — and a 200-lei fine for the club. The decisions can be appealed to the Competitions Committee within 48 hours of the official notification, according to ATF.
Whom it really matters to
A one-match suspension does not weigh the same for everyone, and here the difference is made by the first-leg score.
FC Regina Maria won the first leg 2-0, and FC Haiduc Bumbăta 5-2 — comfortable leads going into the second legs. The absence of Andrițchi, and of Croitoru respectively, complicates their maths less.
It is a different story at FC Speranța Semeni. The team lost the first leg 1-2 to FC Mănoilești, so it has a goal to claw back in the home second leg — and it will do so without Gheorghe Uzdriș. Of the three, this is the suspension that hurts: it falls exactly on the match in which Semeni has to attack, not to manage a lead.
The quarter-final second legs are played in a week, and the four ties will produce the semi-finalists of the «MAGIRUS» Cup 2026 — the competition that, summer after summer, brings together the teams of the town and the villages of Ungheni district.
