Carabinieri from the Compania mobilă in Ungheni called 112 for a woman who felt ill on patrol

During a patrol, the Carabinieri of the Compania mobilă de intervenție in Ungheni were alerted about a woman who felt ill, called the 112 emergency service and stayed with her until a medical team took over. It is exactly the kind of intervention for which this rapid-response unit — the second of its kind in the country — was set up in September 2025.

A woman who felt ill on a street in Ungheni was taken into the care of a medical team after Carabinieri, during a patrol, were alerted and called the 112 emergency service. The intervention was made public by the Inspectoratul General de Carabinieri (IGC), which says its staff “reacted immediately” and that the team that arrived on the scene “took charge of the person for the necessary care.”

The account comes from a single side — the institution itself — and contains no details that would identify the woman or her medical condition. It is a minor intervention, of the kind that usually does not make it into a press release. Yet it is worth noting for what it says about a new structure in the town.

What the Ungheni Compania mobilă is

The Carabinieri who intervened are part of the Compania mobilă de intervenție (CMI) Ungheni, a unit launched only on 16 September 2025 within Regimentul 1 de Carabinieri „Mihai Viteazul” of the „Centru” Regional Directorate. It was the second company of its kind in the country, after the one in Edineț, out of a plan for five — the next ones due to appear in Orhei, Căușeni and Cahul.

The stated role of these companies, at their launch, was not primarily medical assistance but rapid response: answering emergency calls through 112, maintaining public order, supporting border control and reducing crime.

This mobile company is a flexible instrument for rapid response and operational support. The mobility of the teams and their logistical equipment allow the Carabinieri to reach any locality quickly and to protect citizens and their property.

A simple chain that worked

Beyond the institutional message, the episode shows a chain that worked as it should: someone alerted the patrol, the patrol called 112 — the single emergency number in the Republic of Moldova — and the dispatch centre sent a medical team that took charge of the person. It was not the Carabinieri who provided the care, but the medical service; their role was to notice, to alert and to stay beside the woman until help arrived.

For a town that has had such a mobile unit for less than a year, this is the first public sign that it is actually patrolling the streets and that, alongside the public order it was designed for, it also ends up doing this quiet work of being at hand when someone is in need.
