On Ungheni’s busiest street, the parking rule is, from now on, one with teeth. The City Hall reminded residents on Tuesday, 30 June, that an alternating parking regime is in force on Strada Națională for cleaning the roadway — and warned, bluntly, that cars left in the way of the machines «will be lifted and removed».
When, and on which side
The ban lasts two hours every morning, between 8 and 10 — an interval the administration says it shortened after measurements, concluding that two hours are enough for the cleaning. The schedule applies on each side in turn:
- the right-hand side (the direction from Chișinău) — on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays;
- the left-hand side — on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
During that window, drivers are required to clear the spots so the cleaning machines can pass. The City Hall states that checks are carried out on the ground and that vehicles parked irregularly will be towed.
The objection from the comments — the rush hour
The announcement quickly drew reactions, and the dominant tone is not approval. Several residents complain that the chosen interval lands exactly at the peak of the day. One writes that the cleaning «should be done at night or at least in the evening, when traffic is at its minimum», not in the morning, «when people are going to work». Another notes that in the morning «many people come from the villages to shop, and the situation gets even harder», and asks why the cleaning is not done in the afternoon, when there is less crowding. Another proposal from the comments: an interval between 6 and 8.
Not all voices point the same way. Some commenters note that the cleaning workers have a daytime, not a night-time, schedule, and that the cleaning is, in any case, usually done before people come out into the town. The underlying tension, however, remains the same, and as old as the street itself — on Națională there are too few parking spaces for the number of cars that want to stop there.
For now, the regime stays as the City Hall announced it: on the days when it is the turn of the side where people usually park, cars left on Strada Națională between 8 and 10 will be towed. Any move of the interval, as asked for in the comments, would have to be announced publicly too — on the same page where the rule itself appeared.
