The only vocational school in Ungheni district has opened admission for the 2026–2027 school year. The Public Institution Ungheni Vocational School announced on 4 July that it awaits candidates “from 20 July,” and this year the file is submitted differently than before: exclusively online, through the national platform eadmitere.sime.md.
The announcement — an album of five posters on the school’s Facebook page — says it briefly: “Admission 2026. We await you with doors wide open.” But behind it lie a concrete offer of trades, a list of documents and a set of conditions worth knowing before you apply.
What you can study: nine trades, in two- and three-year programmes
The 2026 educational offer includes nine trades, split by length of study.
Two-year trades (after lower secondary school):
- mechanic / car mechanic;
- construction electrician-fitter;
- data entry, validation and processing operator;
- painter;
- seamstress in light industry — in the dual system.
Three-year trades, offered as programmes with double qualifications:
- electric-gas welder-assembler · gas cutter;
- electrical-equipment maintenance fitter · electrical-equipment repair electrician-fitter;
- computer technical-support operator · data entry, validation and processing operator;
- electrician-electronist / car electronist · car mechanic.
The seamstress trade is offered “in the dual system” — meaning part of the training takes place directly at an employer, where the student learns and, in parallel, gains work experience. This is exactly the direction the state is pushing nationally: of the 12,282 state-funded places approved by the Government for vocational education in 2026–2027, 2,669 are reserved for dual education — 535 more than last year, according to the Ministry of Education and Research.
How to apply: online from 20 July, then document checks at the commission
From 20 July, the file is submitted on the eadmitere.sime.md platform: the candidate creates an account, chooses the trade, enters their data and uploads the documents. The original documents are then presented for verification to the school’s admission commission, which works Monday to Friday, from 08.00 to 17.00.
The file requires, according to the official posters:
- the application to enter the competition;
- a copy of the ID card or birth certificate;
- a copy of the parents’ ID card;
- six colour photographs, 3×4 cm;
- a medical certificate (form 086);
- a certificate of family composition, issued by the authorised bodies;
- the file-processing fee — 40 lei;
- other documents, as needed.
The school notes that documents must be brought in copy and in original, for verification.
Who has priority: the 15% quota for social categories
A lesser-known but important detail: for each trade, 15% of the state-funded places are reserved, with priority, for certain categories of candidates. In the order set by the school, these are: children left without parental care; children with severe, pronounced or moderate disabilities; children whose parents have a severe disability; children whose parents took part in military action to defend the integrity and independence of the Republic of Moldova, in the war in Afghanistan or in cleaning up the consequences of the Chernobyl disaster; children from families with four or more children in their parents’ care; and Roma children.
Why it matters for Ungheni
The trades on offer — welding, electrical work, car mechanics, computer technical support, garment-making — are technical fields for which industrial employers have demand, and Ungheni municipality hosts a Free Economic Zone with production units.
Against the image of a “second-rate” school, the Ungheni institution actually runs against the current. It is the only vocational school in the district and, as we showed in June, it reached 538 students — almost a third more than three years ago — while the district lost nearly 22,000 residents over the past 11 years. In other words, more and more young people are choosing a trade learned at home.
One thing remains unclear for now: the number of places per trade (state-funded and contract). The admission-plan page on the school’s website was empty at the time of writing, and the posters give no figures. The data can be obtained from the admission commission or on the eAdmitere platform, once the calendar by rounds is published.
