FC Barsa Ungheni entered the Cup straight at this stage, as one of the four teams handed a bye in the draw, having announced it finished the first half of the season top of Division B. Haiduc Bumbăta, by contrast, had to earn its place on the pitch: in round one it got past FC Start Pîrlița, 4-3 in the first leg and 7-2 in the return — 11-5 on aggregate. - FC Haiduc Bumbăta, 11-5 against FC Start Pîrlița.

One thread worth watching is disciplinary: after the round of 16, the ATF Ungheni Competitions Commission handed out six suspensions, the heaviest of them — three matches across all competitions run under the association — going to a FC Barsa player sanctioned in a championship game. How much of that suspension will bite in the quarter-finals depends on the schedule ATF has yet to make public.
