All seven kindergartens in the municipality of Ungheni suspend their activity between 17 and 26 August, City Hall announced. During these ten days the premises undergo sanitation, pest control and routine repairs, ahead of the start of the new school year.
The measure was taken under a mayor’s order and rests, according to the announcement, on point 16 of the Regulation on enrolling children in preschool institutions in the municipality of Ungheni, approved on 22 December 2023. “Kindergartens must be a safe, well-kept and clean place for your children,” City Hall tells parents, asking for their understanding.
What parents who work do
One thing remains unclear for families: what happens to the children of parents who work during the ten days. Whether any on-call group stays open, or whether the whole period must be covered by families, only City Hall and the kindergartens’ management can say — it is information they hold. Parents with specific questions can turn directly to the kindergarten where their child is enrolled.
The suspension lasts, according to the announcement, until 26 August inclusive; activity resumes after that date, around the new school year.
