The plot and the two buildings on Feroviară Street 3/1 in Ungheni pass from state ownership into the ownership of the municipality. The Government approved the transfer at its meeting of 21 October, the Municipal Hall announced. The draft decision, 612/MAI/2026, was presented by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and appeared as item 13 on the meeting agenda.
What the municipality receives
According to the text submitted to the meeting, the transfer is free of charge and covers:
- the plot with cadastral number 9201108.169, of 0.022 hectares (220 square metres);
- two buildings on this plot, of 71.1 and 19.4 square metres.
The buildings were under the economic management of the state enterprise “Servicii pază” of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The explanatory note states that the property “is no longer used for its intended purpose and requires significant investment”. It lies in a tourist area, next to St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs, state enterprise “Servicii pază” and the mayor of the municipality have 30 days to form the commission and carry out the transfer. The decision enters into force upon publication in the Official Gazette.
What the Council asked for and what was left out of the project
The transfer stems from Decision No. 9/8 of 20 December 2024 of Ungheni Municipal Council. The councillors then agreed to receive three state properties on Feroviară Street, all described as being “in an advanced state of degradation”:
- the 0.1277-hectare plot managed by Ungheni Police Inspectorate, with four buildings, of 371.1, 118.7, 46.3 and 35.5 square metres;
- the plot and the two buildings at number 3/1;
- non-residential premises of 148.8 square metres and a garage of 82 square metres at number 1, managed by state enterprise “Poșta Moldovei”.
The version of the draft published in August on particip.gov.md also included the police plot, with the change of its purpose to land for construction and development. It is missing from the text submitted to the meeting of 21 October. The summary of opinions explains why: on the recommendation of the Ministry of Justice, the plot and buildings of the Police Inspectorate were excluded, as it is land with a special purpose. Under the Regulation approved by Government Decision No. 99/2025, based on the Land Code, the purpose of such land can be changed only for military or state border infrastructure.
The Municipal Hall announces that projects to make use of the property taken over from the state will be drawn up in the coming years. The documents consulted do not say what will be built or developed on Feroviară Street 3/1.
