The “Iacob Ciachir” equestrian Cup returns to Ungheni on August 15, for its seventh edition

On August 15, from 14.30, the Ungheni Deal riding school hosts the seventh edition of the “Iacob Ciachir” Cup — the town’s only equestrian competition. The name is no accident: Iacob Ciachir was the director of the “Prut” state farm, the man under whom Ungheni had, from 1967, a stud of over 120 horses, some of them English thoroughbreds — a stud that, according to local history, had made the town famous across the entire Soviet space. The equestrian tradition, extinguished after the Soviet period, was revived in 2018 by the young people of JCI Ungheni, together with the Republican Riding School.
