On 30 August, in Ungheni, the third round of the Republic of Moldova motocross championship is contested. The start is at 11.00 and entry is free. The announcement belongs to Federația de Motociclism din Republica Moldova, the country’s motorcycling federation, and was published on 18 June: the round is the third of a championship with five, and the next one is held a week later, on 6 September, in Chișinău.
In a video filmed on the circuit and published on 4 August, Ion Poia announced that the works to rebuild the track are under way, after the ground was affected by torrential rain. Poia, the head of the Ungheni Territorial Office of the State Chancellery, says he is an organiser and initiator of the competition, in a personal capacity and not as a public official.

Where the track is
The track is, according to information from the city hall at the 2025 opening, in the Valea Rusului area, at the entrance to the Dănuțeni district coming from Cetireni. It was opened there in August 2025, together with a round of the national motocross championship.

What you see at a motocross round
Motocross is raced in motos, on a dirt track with jumps and banked turns, and the spectators stand, as a rule, on the slopes, from where almost the whole circuit can be seen. The Ungheni track is cut right into a valley — a natural arena.
Alongside the seniors, children’s categories also race. At the first round of the 2024 season, on the Schinoasa track in Chișinău, the youngest riders in the competition were aged between 5 and 9, according to the public broadcaster’s report, and the seniors raced in the MX1, MX2 and Open classes.
The date has one further context: 30 August falls within Ungheni City Days, which this year run from 20 to 31 August.
In one year, from the opening to the Balkan calendar
The track is new. It was opened on 27 August 2025, on Independence Day, together with the second round of the national motocross championship — so it turns one right around the time of this race. Machinery from SRL „Servicii Comunale” Ungheni and dozens of volunteers worked on building it, according to information from the city hall, and around 70 riders were expected at the first competition.
In one year, the track has climbed higher than the national championship. The Balkan Motorcycling Union calendar for 2026 has nine rounds, in six countries — Romania, Turkey, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Greece and the Republic of Moldova. Of all nine, only one is raced in the Republic of Moldova: the seventh round, on 19–20 September, in Ungheni.
Also in Ungheni, in December 2025, the Balkan body approved its regulations for 2026, at a meeting attended by eight of the ten member federations.
How the track looked last year
A clip filmed in 2025 on the Ungheni track and published on YouTube by the channel „Rares -rares.petru-”, under the title „Adrenalin Cup Ungheni 2025”. It shows the track cut into the valley, with the public gathered all around.
