ADR Nord signed a new 63.4 million lei contract on 22 October for the Prut–Fălești water pipeline, with a supply line to the village of Gherman in Sculeni. The February contract was terminated after the contractor refused to carry out the works, according to the agency.
Apă-Canal Ungheni announced a drinking water cut on Thursday, 22 October, between 15.00 and 17.00 (estimated) on O. Ungureanu, Victoria and T. Arghezi streets and part of M. Sadoveanu Street, to fix an unforeseen leak on the 150 mm pipe at 15 O. Ungureanu Street. The day before, the operator had announced a water cut on the same four streets between 08.00 and 17.00 for reconnection works at the same address.
On the plot between Înfrățirii Square and the Episcopal Cathedral, the underground utility networks and the paths have been built and the ground has been levelled, Ungheni City Hall announces. The work is carried out by SRL “Servicii Comunale Ungheni”, and the infrastructure costs are covered by City Hall, according to the same source. The European project funding the garden, worth 303.802,50 euros, is due to end on 11 December 2026.

RED Nord has scheduled power cuts in the municipality of Ungheni and in eight villages of the district between 20 and 24 October. The longest schedule applies to certain addresses on Horelor, Marinescu, Viilor and I. Neculce streets: Wednesday to Saturday, daily from 08.00 to 20.00, for investment works on the 0.4 kV network. On Tuesday, 20 October, consumers in Cioropcani, Cioropcanii Vechi and Măgurele will be without power from 08.30 to 16.30.
Ungheni City Hall is adding one more vehicle each to routes 1 and 3 during the morning peak, and links the decision to the two mornings when mayor Vitalie Vrabie inspected urban transport on those routes, on 1 and 2 September. The longest gap between two buses drops from 23 to 16 minutes on route 1 and from 16 to 14 minutes on route 3, according to calculations by Triunghi.md based on the announced times. The 2025 management report of Ungheni's water utility shows two trends moving in opposite directions. Unplanned failures on the distribution network fell from 270 to 256, and the average duration of an interruption dropped from 7.16 to 5.68 hours — nearly an hour and a half less. Dispatch calls reporting water outages collapsed: 263, down from 2,258 the previous year. At the same time, water losses rose from 21.2% to 26.3% of the volume abstracted. The utility abstracted 72,500 more cubic meters, sold 27,000 fewer, and the difference — roughly 100,000 cubic meters — was lost in transit. The operator attributes the increase in losses to the ongoing European-funded works at the treatment plant and the mains along Oranjeriei Street.
After the fish die-off in early August, Ungheni City Hall requested a water sample from Lake Delia. The result, released by the Public Health Centre on August 11: water unfit for bathing — class V (the lowest) by chemical parameters. It is the third year in a row with class V results (2024, 2025, 2026), and the area has no sanitary authorization and is not on the monitoring calendar.
