The knockout stage of Ungheni’s district football Cup has received its disciplinary verdict. The Competition Commission of the Ungheni Territorial Football Association (ATF), the competition’s organizer, has published Minutes No. 7, dated 23 June, validating the round-of-16 results of the «MAGIRUS» Cup, 2026 edition, and imposing six player suspensions and 1,600 lei in fines on the clubs.
The sanctions were handed down for the red cards in the round-of-16 matches, played on 21 June, and in one rescheduled championship match. In total, six players were sent off and suspended, and their clubs fined sums of between 200 and 400 lei each.
The match that decides FC Barsa’s opponent loses three players
The heaviest sporting consequence falls squarely on the very tie Triunghi.md flagged as the round’s most important: FC Start Pîrlița – FC Haiduc Bumbăta, the match whose winner will face FC Barsa Ungheni in the second round. In the first leg, Haiduc Bumbăta won 4-3 away, leaving qualification open ahead of the return.
It was in that match that three of the round’s six red cards fell. FC Start Pîrlița had Vadim Turețchi (two yellow cards) and Iliric Poparcea (a straight red) sent off, both suspended for the next Cup match. FC Haiduc Bumbăta had Tudor Nastas (two yellows) sent off, also suspended for one round.
Since the “next Cup match” for both teams is precisely Sunday’s return leg, it follows that the game deciding FC Barsa’s opponent will be played without two Pîrlița players and one from Bumbăta. For an already even tie — a one-goal margin after the first leg — those absences weigh.
The heaviest punishment: an FC Barsa player, three matches
The harshest individual sanction, however, came not from the Cup but from the league. In the rescheduled FC Florești – FC Barsa match of 14 June, FC Barsa’s Artiom Arteni was sent off after two yellow cards and suspended for the next three matches in competitions held under the aegis of ATF Ungheni, with the club fined 400 lei.
The same Commission validated, in the same document, the result of that rescheduled match — the game in which, according to reporting previously carried by Triunghi.md, FC Barsa Ungheni won 5-2. The suspension takes Arteni out not only of the league but of any ATF competition — at exactly the point when FC Barsa, which had announced it ended the first half of Division B in first place, is set to enter the district Cup in the second round.
Two more suspensions and the total in fines
Beyond the three red cards at Pîrlița and Bumbăta and Arteni’s, the Commission sanctioned two more players, from the other round-of-16 matches:
- Dumitru Lupoi (FC Mănoilești), sent off against FC Gherman after two yellows — suspended for three Cup matches, his club fined 400 lei;
- Alin Cozma (FC Măcărești), sent off against FC Regina Maria after two yellows — suspended for one Cup match, his club fined 200 lei.
A difference in treatment between the red cards is visible: two of them — Arteni and Lupoi — drew three matches of suspension and 400 lei in fines each, while the other four were sanctioned with a single round and 200 lei. The Commission does not detail the reason, citing instead points 7.1, 9.3 and 9.7 of the «MAGIRUS» Cup regulations and points 3 and 9 of the Disciplinary Code. Added up, the fines on the five clubs concerned — Pîrlița, Bumbăta, Mănoilești, Măcărești and Barsa — come to 1,600 lei, no trivial sum for the budget football of the villages.
The decision is not final. In the document, the Commission notes that it can be appealed:

In the comments on the official post, the decision also stirred a familiar grievance — one supporter asked whether the referees would be sanctioned too, an echo of the recurring disputes in district football.
Village football, where a card rewrites a qualification
For readers following Ungheni football, one clarification still helps here too: the district championship and the «MAGIRUS» Cup are amateur football — village and town teams, played on weekends, on pitches like those at Pîrlița, Mănoilești or Măcărești. It is a different tier than FCM Ungheni, the club that represents the district in Liga 1, the second tier of professional football in Moldova.
That is exactly why a sheet of cards matters locally: a single suspension can change a return leg, and Sunday’s return leg decides who advances to meet FC Barsa in the second round. The Commission’s decision has already settled who will not be on the pitch.
