Lake Delia water is class V for the third summer running — the municipal beach stays open

After the fish die-off in early August, Ungheni City Hall requested a water sample from Lake Delia. The result, released by the Public Health Centre on August 11: water unfit for bathing — class V (the lowest) by chemical parameters. It is the third year in a row with class V results (2024, 2025, 2026), and the area has no sanitary authorization and is not on the monitoring calendar. The municipal beach stays open, with lifeguards. What this means for anyone who swims there — and where you can swim safely.

The Slavena bus station in Ungheni: what the ANTA Order and the Municipal Council's decisions show

The Slavena bus station at Decebal 19/B in Ungheni has been registered with ANTA since September 2025, the agency confirms at the request of Triunghi.md. The applicable regime is notification, not authorization; the revocation of the Municipal Council's decision does not constitute grounds for removal from the register. The City Hall, which requested the removal, issued positive endorsements in 2026 for routes from the same bus station. The Council's urban-planning objections — commercial zone, no zonal plan, safety — fall outside ANTA's competence.

In early August, a fish die-off occurred in Ungheni's Lake Delia. On the shore of the same lake, the municipal beach has been open since 21 June, with lifeguards — even though the Public Health Centre says the area has no sanitary permit, that in 2026 not a single water sample was taken and that swimming ought to be banned. Yellow fire code, ten days nationwide: what the law bans and what burning stubble costs

The Authority for Meteorology and Environmental Monitoring has extended its warning of exceptional danger of vegetation fires until 31 July, for most of the country — including the Ungheni district, in the middle of its harvest campaign. The law bans burning stubble and plant residue, and the fine reaches 15,000 lei for an individual and 40,000 for a company. Last year, fires lit by people were the main cause of blazes in the fields.

Fire at the Costuleni dump: district town halls warn that burning vegetation carries fines of 10,000–15,000 lei

Costuleni Town Hall filmed a new fire at the village dump, a few days after it had asked people not to burn dry vegetation. On the same day, Cioropcani Town Hall issued its own warning. The fire does not come from the day's heat — it is cooler now — but from vegetation left dry after the heatwave and from fires left unattended, an act for which the law provides stinging fines.

Trap calls targeting the elderly: the bill requiring operators to block them has passed first reading

The opposition bill that would require telephone operators to detect and block calls with a spoofed number — the ones used above all to trick the elderly — passed its first reading in Parliament on 2 July, and for the second reading it will be merged with the Government’s “SIM card only with your ID” project. The same day, MPs also backed the creation of a National Anti-Fraud Focal Point, after the report of an inquiry commission that put 2025 fraud damage at a record of about 272 million lei. For Ungheni, where lonely elderly people are the favourite target of the “relative in trouble” or “from the bank” scheme, the spoofed number is precisely the trap.

«You're being investigated by the SIS!»: an Ungheni woman lost 229,000 lei, and police caught two couriers at the second drop

A 53-year-old woman from Ungheni was manipulated over the phone through a three-step scheme — a code received by SMS, a fake bank employee, then a fake representative of the Information and Security Service threatening her with arrest. She handed over 229,000 lei. As the second instalment, of 220,000 lei, was being delivered, police intervened and caught two couriers red-handed. The case, described by the Ungheni Police Inspectorate, is the third of its kind we have documented in under a month.
