Founder and Editor-in-Chief

Founder and editor-in-chief of Triunghi.md. Ion (Nalyk) Calmîș has worked at the intersection of journalism and technology in the Republic of Moldova for over two decades — a road that began in Ungheni, as a reporter at the newspaper Unghiul. He is CTO of Studio Technologies, the company behind the platforms of some of the country's most-read newsrooms (unimedia.info, jurnal.md, jurnaltv.md, tvrmoldova.md), and Head of AI Ecosystem at Esempla Systems (Moldova's GovStack infrastructure); he co-founded the newsroom Replica Media. At Triunghi.md he puts that experience — and artificial intelligence, at scale — in the service of local journalism built on source triangulation (People, Documents, Data) and on impartiality.

The electrification of the railway to Ungheni has gone to tender: a contract of nearly 290 million lei, with bids due by 5 August

Romania's national railway (CFR) has published, in the Electronic Public Procurement System (SEAP), the notice for the design and construction of the electrification of the Iași–Border line — the concrete step our explainer a week ago flagged as the «next» one. The contract, estimated at 289.55 million lei excluding VAT, covers the Socola–Ungheni section and is the Romanian half of the joint project with the Republic of Moldova, which is to give Bessarabia its first kilometre of electrified railway — right through Ungheni. The deadline for bids: 5 August 2026.

Alternating parking on Strada Națională: the City Hall will tow cars left in the cleaners' way, while drivers contest the hour chosen

Ungheni City Hall has set a clear schedule for alternating parking on Strada Națională — a two-hour ban every morning, on each side in turn — and warns that cars left in the way of the street-cleaning machines will be towed. In the comments, several drivers complain that the chosen interval, between 8 and 10 in the morning, falls right at the traffic peak and the shopping rush.

A hundred children from Ungheni district have left for camps in Romania, through the ARC programme

Around 100 children from Ungheni district have set off for the ARC camps in Romania — at Padiș, Cluj county, and Oglinzi, Neamț county — organised by the Department for Romanians Everywhere. Three hours of water a day across four sectors: Sculeni rations water amid the heatwave

At the peak of the heatwave, Sculeni commune’s City Hall and the “Servicom Sculeni” utility have put water on a ration. From Tuesday, 30 June, the village was split into four sectors, each getting water for only three hours a day, between 9.00 and 18.00. The reason, the authority says: huge consumption for watering gardens and irresponsible use of the network, which collapsed the pressure. Water trouble in Sculeni is not new — the council passed decisions on it in both 2024 and 2025.
