39% of the first stage of Ungheni's Lake Delia promenade comes from Cluj

The Cluj-Napoca Local Council voted on 20 July to give 593,000 Romanian lei (RON) for the development of the promenade on Lake Delia in Ungheni. The financing agreement, annexed to the decision of the Ungheni Municipal Council, shows that the first stage costs €288,387.80 — about 5.8 million Moldovan lei (MDL) — and that the Cluj share amounts to €113,247.88, that is 39.3% of the total. The remaining 60.7% is paid by Ungheni. The contract was awarded back in May to SRL Balt-Cons of Pîrlița, for 5,759,683.36 Moldovan lei including VAT, and the request to Cluj had gone out as early as December.

Ungheni reinforces its Prut dike over 2.3 km and adds a riverfront promenade on top

Ungheni city hall has started work to reinforce the protective dike along the Prut and its tributary, the Delia, in the Ungheni-Vale neighbourhood — the area threatened by Prut floods in 2008, 2010 and 2020. The 2,341 metres of dike will carry a riverfront promenade with walkways, bike lanes and viewpoints over the river. The project is funded by the European Union with a €922,715 grant, through the cross-border Interreg programme, together with the twin city of Dorohoi in Romania.
