In Cioropcani, a folk festival honoured the well-diggers: eight water craftsmen from four villages

On Sunday, 19 July, the village of Cioropcani hosted the folk festival “La Fântânița din Sat” (At the Village Well), organised by the Pîrlița District Culture Centre together with the town hall, under the auspices of the Ungheni District Culture and Tourism Department. Alongside traditional costumes and folk ensembles, the celebration brought an unusual guest to the stage: the well-diggers — eight craftsmen from Cioropcani, Pîrlița, Petrești and Zagarancea, the people who draw water from the ground. A few days earlier, the village’s young people had cleaned and whitewashed a well.

General assembly in Costuleni on Sunday at 16.00, on the single commune. Cioropcani asks its residents online: “Do you agree?”

The amalgamation consultation is coming down to residents' level. The Costuleni mayor's office — part of the largest commune proposed in the district, formed around Ungheni municipality, with around 42.300 residents — calls the village to the Cultural Center on Sunday, July 19, and has put into circulation the vision document of the new administrative unit. In parallel, the Cioropcani mayor's office, from the Sculeni cluster, has launched a bilingual online questionnaire on the draft decision and the development priorities. The council votes are scheduled by the end of the month.

Fire at the Costuleni dump: district town halls warn that burning vegetation carries fines of 10,000–15,000 lei

Costuleni Town Hall filmed a new fire at the village dump, a few days after it had asked people not to burn dry vegetation. On the same day, Cioropcani Town Hall issued its own warning. The fire does not come from the day's heat — it is cooler now — but from vegetation left dry after the heatwave and from fires left unattended, an act for which the law provides stinging fines.

€15,000 from Iași brings heating and a toilet to the family-doctor office in Cioropcani

At an extraordinary session on Thursday, the Ungheni District Council approved a 500,000-lei project that will give the Family Doctors' Office in Cioropcani heating, a sanitary unit and a proper entrance — basic conditions it still lacked. Most of the money, €15,000 out of €24,875, comes from the Iași County Council under a cross-border cooperation agreement signed back in 2009; the district adds the rest. At the same session, councillors allocated money from the district budget and approved writing off worn-out assets at two schools — the exact allocation sum has not yet been made public.
