Three hours of water a day across four sectors: Sculeni rations water amid the heatwave

At the peak of the heatwave, Sculeni commune’s City Hall and the “Servicom Sculeni” utility have put water on a ration. From Tuesday, 30 June, the village was split into four sectors, each getting water for only three hours a day, between 9.00 and 18.00. The reason, the authority says: huge consumption for watering gardens and irresponsible use of the network, which collapsed the pressure. Water trouble in Sculeni is not new — the council passed decisions on it in both 2024 and 2025.

Heat to hit 38 °C in Ungheni from Tuesday, with tropical nights — orange code, red in the south

The Authority for Meteorology and Environmental Monitoring has issued a heatwave warning for 28 June – 1 July. In Ungheni, in the centre of the country, the code rises from yellow (28–29 June, +33…+35 °C) to orange (30 June – 1 July, +36…+38 °C), while the south falls under a red code with +39…+41 °C. Nights stay above 20 degrees, and for the people of Ungheni the practical point is simple: how to cool off without becoming a statistic — in the municipality, only the Prut and Delia beaches have lifeguards.

Yellow heat warning and up to 35 °C: in Ungheni, safe swimming means only the Prut and Delia, where there are lifeguards

The State Hydrometeorological Service has issued a yellow heat warning for 22 June, with highs of up to 35 °C, and IGSU comes with reminders on three fronts: water, fire and health. For people in Ungheni the stake is concrete — since the start of 2026, 18 people have drowned in Moldova, two of them children, and the town has only two swimming spots with lifeguards: the Prut beach and the one on Lake Delia.
