Parliament ties the minimum wage to the average economy salary — and in Ungheni people earn 3,700 lei below the national average

Parliament voted for the adequacy of the minimum wage to be measured against 50% of the average economy salary — a European benchmark that shows just how low today's minimum really is. Set against the figures of Ungheni district, where the average salary is about 3,700 lei below the national average, the stakes are twofold: the «decency» threshold is still far off, and across the Prut the minimum wage is more than twice as high.
