A Petrești resident's post about children on motorcycles drew dozens of reactions and an old grievance: 'the police do nothing'. Behind the frustration, though, lie clear rules and rising numbers. Under 16, a child may not legally drive anything on a public road; and when they do climb onto two wheels, the Contravention Code hits the parent first — with fines of up to 4,500 lei. Nationally, the number of children injured in road crashes reached its highest level in years in 2025.
