A 17-year-old girl died on Saturday evening in Stolniceni, Ungheni district, after the ATV she was driving ran off the road and hit an electricity pole. Police have opened a criminal case and say they will establish 'who allowed her access' to the vehicle. Contrary to a widespread impression, age alone does not make driving a quadricycle illegal — a B1 licence can be obtained from the age of 16; the investigation will clarify whether the teenager held a licence and whether the ATV was permitted on public roads.
