Second rabies outbreak in Ungheni district in a week: confirmed case in Măgurele

A week after the village of Rezina, the Emergency Situations Commission of Ungheni district has imposed restrictions in Măgurele as well. Through Decision No. 11/E of 6 August, the commission approved a plan of anti-epizootic measures, after the Territorial Subdivision for Food Safety confirmed, on 4 August, a case of rabies in the village. The measures are of the same type as those in Rezina — the sale and movement of animals within the locality stop, animals are vaccinated as a matter of necessity, and the restrictions are lifted 30 days after the last case. The decision does not specify the species of the infected animal. Anti-rabies vaccination of dogs, cats and ferrets remains mandatory throughout the district, and any bite means a trip to the doctor the same day — the prophylaxis is free.
